KUALA LUMPUR: At 40 years old, when many athletes have already retired, Muhaizar Mohamad is still tying his running shoes tight. With an average of 150 kilometers per week, this two-time SEA Games bronze medalist is training hard. His goal is clear: to return and make waves at the 2025 SEA Games, a target that raises the question - where does this extraordinary spirit come from?

The answer lies in the soul of a warrior that never fades. As a former commando, Muhaizar was instilled with the belief that serving the nation is a continuous struggle. Although he has removed his military uniform, his spirit to fight for his beloved country has never diminished. His running today is a continuation of his oath as a soldier, only the arena is different.

"As a retired military member, the spirit and soul for the country is very strong. I've been trained like in war because I'm a commando. As an athlete, I have the same spirit even in sports. I want to bring glory to the nation through sports."

That warrior spirit is also the fire in the soul of this father of five children as an athlete. He sees no difference between the struggle on the battlefield and in running races.

Every drop of sweat and every run is proof of his sacrifice. Behind the success of winning medals and nearly 12 years of experience, the reality is a father who wisely divides his time between family and heavy training, proving his undivided commitment to a greater mission.
